Staff Report

Thursday, January 08, 2009

GREENVILLE — In preparing for the 2010 Census, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission is participating in the Census Participant Statistical Area Program, an effort by the U.S. Census Bureau to update the boundaries for Census block groups, tracts and Census Designated Places.

The program will update the boundaries to reflect changes in population and, when possible, the needs of local Census data users. MVRPC staff is coordinating the effort for the counties of Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery and Preble.

A series of workshops, one in each county, will gather information on how these boundaries should or should not be changed

The Darke County meeting will be held at the Darke County Administration Building, conference room, 520 S. Broadway, Greenville, from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Those attending can supply input on the proposed changes and suggest any additional modifications. Participants are asked to bring supporting documentation for any changes they may suggest.

Maps showing the proposed changes for Darke County are available at www.mvrpc.org/rc/PSAP.php.

Maps also can be viewed at the MVRPC offices, One Dayton Center, One S. Main St., Suite 260, Dayton, Ohio, 45402, during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Comments on proposed changes may be submitted to MVRPC via e-mail by Jan. 20. Comments can be sent to Katy Bowman at kbowman@mvrpc.org or mailed to the MVRPC offices.
