DAYTON — University of Dayton freshman star Chris Wright had successful surgery to repair a hairline fracture in his right ankle Monday morning and will begin rehab by the end of the week.
Wright could return in six weeks if his recovery goes well, putting him in action for March regular-season games against Fordham and St. Bonaventure on the road and Saint Joseph's at home.

"The bone went right back in perfect alignment. There was no displacement," said Nate Seymour, UD's associate head athletics trainer.
"We'd be very happy with six weeks — that's what we're shooting for. If it takes seven, it takes seven."
Wright, the Flyers' second-leading scorer and top rebounder, has been replaced in the starting lineup by Andres Sandoval, who has averaged 6.2 points while starting the last five games.
"It's a tough break because of how important he is to our team and the year he was having," coach Brian Gregory said. "At the same time, injuries are going to happen and guys have to step up.
"I'm not sure many teams have a senior like Andres Sandoval to be able to slip into the lineup. He's playing well for us. He has great size (for a guard). He's maybe not as good an athlete as Chris Wright — I'm not sure there are many out there who are — but he knows our system from a lot of different positions."
