11 areas where Hamilton residents want to see change

Here are the 11 top items Hamilton residents who recently attended public-input sessions as part of the Plan Hamilton process said they would like to see changed, for the better, over the next 10 to 15 years:

  • Creation of more public transportation options, as well as enhanced information about routes and stops 
  • Focus on crime and drug hot spots
  • Creation of sidewalk and other improvements of walkability, especially involving community spaces
  • Redevelopment of underused or blighted shopping centers and commercial buildings
  • Enhanced maintenance and programming in the parks, plus a desire for a community pool
  • Improving the fate of historic buildings

  • UPCOMING PLAN HAMILTON MEETINGS

    • Oct. 2: Public meeting that will focus on some of the big-picture issues and policies of Plan Hamilton moving forward. The meetings starts at 6 p.m. at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, 101 S. Monument Ave.
    • Oct. 9: Plan Hamilton open house, where a summary vision and conceptual framework for Plan Hamilton, based on all input given, will be presented. The open house will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, 101 S. Monument Ave.
