3 arrests made in string of Hamilton bank robberies

Three men have been arrested in connection with three bank robberies in Hamilton and are suspects in a fourth robbery in Fairfield Twp, according to Hamilton police.

Detectives served a search warrant this morning in the 1800 block of Edison Avenue with the help of the SWAT unit and recovered evidence related to the robberies, police said.

Lester Burns, 40, is charge with three counts of robbery for the robberies that occurred in Hamilton. Additional charges against Burns are possible, according to police.

He confessed to the crimes, according to police.

Burns is charge with robbing Fifth Third Bank on NW Washington Blvd. on Sept. 21 and then robbing the US Bank (540 Main St.) the same day and the robbery Thursday of Union Savings Bank at 1225 Main St.

Hamilton Police said additional information uncovered this morning may have stopped another bank robbery that was planned this afternoon in Fairfield.

Steve Lyons, 24, is also charged with robbery for his alleged involvement in one of the robberies.

Brian James Lyons, 33, is charged with two counts of robbery for his alleged involvement.

This residence that was searched had become a blight to the neighborhood, according to police. Since the beginning of August, officers had responded to the residence for three calls of overdoses, a domestic disturbance, a fight call and several unwanted individual calls.
