August home sales increase 14% in Dayton area

Dayton-area home sales increased 14 percent in August compared to the same time a year ago, the Dayton Area Board of Realtors reported today.

The average sales price also jumped last month to $145,872, a two percent increase from August 2014 and the highest on record. The median price decreased to $124,000, down three percent from last year.

The 1,384 sales for August produced a cumulative sales volume of $201.8 million, a jump of 16 percent from last year, according to the board.

August’s sales also continued to increase the year-to-date sales numbers and average and median price for the Dayton area. The number of homes sold for the year, 9,764, is a 12 percent increase from last year. The January-August average sales price increased six percent to $141,804, while the median price ticked up 4.3 percent to $120,000.
