CENTERVILLE — The Centerville Police Department is hosting its annual Safety on Wheels Bicycle Rodeo from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 21.
Unlike previous years, when the event was held at the police station, this year it will take place on the upper deck of the parking garage at Miami Valley Hospital South, 2400 Miami Valley Drive.
Police said it was moved for residents’ convenience.
The event is co-sponsored by the Noon Optimist Club of Centerville, the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Optimist Club and Miami Valley Hospital South.
Children can bring their bicycles and get a safety check and helmet fitting before they ride through obstacle course.
There also will be bike maintenance checks, first-aid instruction a hand-cleaning instruction, a summer healthy foods booth, a visit from McGruff the Crime Dog, a tour of the MVHS intensive care unit and a visit from CareFlight.
T-shirts and helmets will be handed out, and a new bike will be given away at the end of the event.
“In many ways it takes an entire community to make sure that our children grow up in a safe environment,” said Tom Jumer, president of the Centerville Noon Optimist Club.
Refreshments also will be provided.
