GasBuddy.com reports the average price for a gallon of gas in Dayton is $2.05, with prices stable. The cheapest gas, as of this morning, is $1.87 at East Side Mini Mart located near Main Street and Dye Mill Road.
In the Hamilton area, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.08, with prices stable. The cheapest gas is $1.89 at Shell located at Paddock Road and Tennessee Avenue.
In the Springfield area, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.05, with prices stable. The cheapest gas is $1.93 at Marathon at Springfield-Xenia Road near Sparrow Road.
Current gas price climate in the Dayton area:
- Ohio: $2.05 per gallon, down 2.5 cents per gallon from last week's $2.08 per gallon.
- Columbus: $2.07 per gallon, down 3.3 cents per gallon from last week's $2.11 per gallon.
- Cincinnati: $2.08 per gallon, down 4.1 cents per gallon from last week's $2.12 per gallon.
"Gasoline prices nationally have continued their typical seasonal trajectory lower,” Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com said. "Gasoline inventories have continued to show impressive gains lately, limiting the effects of rising oil prices on gasoline prices for the time being.
Including the change in gas prices in Dayton during the past week, prices on Sunday were 54.2 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 39.7 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 10.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 51.6 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
“While the majority of states saw average gasoline prices decline, 13 saw prices advancing, especially in the Great Lakes thanks to the region's price cycling mechanisms,” DeHaan said. “Gasoline prices should continue to remain relatively low during the next week, but Wednesday's weekly report from the Energy Information Administration will be a major key to understand when the bulk of refinery season has begun and what impact that will have on gasoline inventories."
Gasoline prices on Feb. 6 in Dayton have ranged widely over the last five years, according to GasBuddy historical data:
- 2012: $3.47 per gallon
- 2013: $3.63 per gallon
- 2014: $3.21 per gallon
- 2015: $2.29 per gallon
- 2016: $1.51 per gallon
