Dayton police locate shooting victim on Brumbaugh Blvd.

UPDATE @10:53 a.m.

City officers found the victim in the 3300 block of Brumbaugh Boulevard lying on the front porch, bleeding and yelling for help, according to a Dayton police report.

"(The victim) was bleeding profusely from his left upper thigh," wrote Dayton Police Officer Stephen Hargraves in the incident report.

Police said the victim had a bullet size hole in his upper left thigh.

The victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.

The victim told police he was walking from Wendy's on Needmore Road to a friend's home on Stuckhardt Road in Trotwood. He was walking west on Free Pike near Brumbaugh Boulevard when a newer model white four door sedan stopped a couple of houses away.

"After the vehicle stopped, someone in the car started shooting at him," Hargraves wrote.

The victim told police he heard three gunshots before he ran to get help.

After he realized he was shot, the victim banged on the front door of the nearest house.

UPDATE @6:26 a.m. 

A man who lives in the area called 911 and reported someone was banging on his windows and doors.

“They’re telling me to open the door, but I don’t know who they are,” the caller said. “… I think maybe one of them is shot.”

The caller reported the person banging on the windows and doors said he or she was bleeding.

UPDATE @4:02 a.m.

Police and medics have cleared the scene of a reported shooting in Trotwood.

We are working to learn more about the victim’s injuries.

Dayton police were also called to the scene.

FIRST REPORT

Police and medics have responded to a report of a person shot on Brumbaugh Boulevard in Trotwood Tuesday morning.

Police were first dispatched to the area of Brumbaugh Boulevard and Free Pike around 2:55 a.m. on reports of a person shouting he was shot.

Initial reports indicate officers located the victim on a porch of a home in the 3300 block of Brumbaugh Boulevard and requested medics to the scene. Police scanner traffic also indicates the officer applied a tourniquet to the victim’s wound.

The condition of the victim was not immediately known.
