Air Force awards foreign military sales contract to Cessna

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — The Air Force awarded an $88.5 million contract to Cessna Aircraft Co. for airplanes, air crew training devices and support services to provide the equipment to Afghanistan, the Defense Department said.

The contract with Cessna, of Wichita, Kan., includes 32 airplanes and a requirement that support services be provided in Afghanistan for training of pilots and crews there, the Defense Department said. It supports the U.S. government’s sales of military equipment to allies and friendly governments.

The 877th Aeronautical Systems Group, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, issued the contract.
