CareSource names new senior vice president

By Dave Larsen

Dayton-based Medicaid provider CareSource has promoted Stephen Ringel to senior vice president of the managed care company’s Market and Product Group, effective immediately. The new position was created to provide executive for the group, according to CareSource officials.

In the new role, Ringel is responsible for managing CareSource’s market and product strategy. He also will support the CareSource-Humana alliance in new states such as Kentucky, as well as new product lines such as the health benefit exchange as a result of the health care reform law that begins Jan. 1, 2014. Ringel is accountable for product performance including member growth and satisfaction.

“We’re working to ensure we have the right structure in place to accommodate our growth and to match consumer needs today and in the future,” said Pamela Morris, CareSource’s president and chief executive, in a statement. “Steve is a proven leader with marketing, finance, operations and sales experience, which makes him a great fit for this very important new role.”

Ringel joined CareSource in 2011 and most recently served as vice president of operations, managing the enrollment and member service departments. Before joining CareSource, he spent 18 years at Humana.

Approximately 930,000 Ohioans have their Medicaid plans, typically low income people and children, administered by nonprofit CareSource, the state’s largest Medicaid managed care plan.
