CareSource recognized for workplace wellness activities

Dayton-based CareSource has been recognized for its workplace wellness initiatives by Wellness Council of America.

CareSource, a nonprofit Medicaid managed care plan, said on Thursday it has received the Gold Well Workplace award from the council. The health care company previously received in 2011 the Silver award. The highest level of achievement after gold status is platinum, based on the wellness council’s criteria.

Criteria include executive support, cohesive wellness teams, a comprehensive operating plan, supporting environments, outcomes and effective interventions.

In 2004, CareSource started an employee wellness program. It now includes a fulltime wellness program manager, on-site fitness center and exercise classes, on-site immunizations and health screenings, local wellness experts as speakers, mobile mammograms and an online health and wellness portal, CareSource said.

CareSource is headquartered in downtown Dayton on North Main Street and has approximately 1,000 local employees.
