Dayton housing permits fall 4.5 percent in September

Staff Report

DAYTON — Residential building permits in the Dayton area slipped 4.5 percent in September, compared with a year ago, the Home Builders Association of Dayton said Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Last month, permits issued slipped to 127, compared with 133 permits during September of last year, the association said.

The latest results include permits for 121 single-family homes, four apartments and two condos, the Dayton HBA said.

Walt Hibner, the HBA’s executive director, in a statement said builders are seeing increased activity at their model homes. But he added that builders worry the expiration of a federal income tax credit of up to $8,000 for first-time home buyers could hurt the market and they want to see it extended.
