Dayton office vacancies climbed last year

The amount of empty office space in Dayton continued to grow in 2009, though at a slower pace than in recent years, according to a report.

The Dayton-area market added more than 201,300 square feet of empty space last year, bringing total office vacancies to about 21.76 percent, according to the study by Gem Real Estate Group Inc.

In 2008, the vacancy rate for offices was 21.27 percent, according to the examination of 335 properties.
