Delta orders up to 70 jetliners with GE Aviation engines

Delta Air Lines Inc. has ordered up to 70 Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen Jetliners, which includes a “firm” CRJ900 NextGen aircraft and options for 30 more for operation by Delta Connection carriers, GE Aviation announced Thursday.

The order has potential value of $3.29 billion, the company said. The firm order is valued at about $1.85 billion.

The new regional jets will be configured with 76 seats in a two-class cabin and will be flown by Delta Connection carriers.

Bombardier’s CRJ900 NextGen regional jets are powered by GE Aviation’s CF34-8 engines, the company said. The engine value on the “firm” aircraft order of 40 is close to $320 million list price, the company noted.

GE Aviation has 350 employees in Vandalia and 1,300 employees total in the Dayton area.
