Fairborn company lands $25M DoD contract

By News Staff

A Fairborn company is being awarded a hefty defense contract, the Department of Defense said Monday.

The Design Knowledge Co. is being awarded a $24,899,999 “small business innovation research phase III” contract, the DoD said.

The contract is for research and development of a “4-D common operational picture for mission assurance,” the Pentagon said in an announcement. The work will be done in Fairborn, where the company moved its corporate offices in 2006.

The company focuses on helping warfighters use information, specializing in “military command and control, knowledge engineering and warfighter information systems,” its web site says. Its customers include the military, contractors and universities.

Work is expected to be completed by February 2020, the DoD said. The contract is governed by the Air Force Research Laboratory, based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

The contract will be incrementally funded by Air Force R&D funds, the DoD said.
