GE Aviation will hold a career fair on Sept. 5 for jobs in electrical power systems.

The company is recruiting workers for GE Aviation in Vandalia due to growth in electrical power systems generation, conversion and distribution, officials said.

GE is seeking people to work on advanced electrical power systems on both military and commercial aircraft, including positions for mechanical assembly, electronic assembly, machinist, experimental mechanic and technicians.

The career fair will be held from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sept. 5 at Miami Valley Career Center’s adult education building, 6801 Hoke Road, Clayton.

Applicants must send a resume to vandalia.careerfair@ge.com in order to receive an invitation to attend the career fair.

GE Aviation, an operating unit of GE, is a top provider of jet engines, components and integrated systems for commercial and military aircraft.

In the past five years, GE Aviation has added 400 jobs at its three Dayton-area plants. The company’s new Electrical Power Integrated Systems research and development center (EPISCenter) on the University of Dayton campus will be operating by 2013, officials said.

An initial 50 people will work there, but within five years, the center should employ 150 to 200 researchers, said Lorraine Bolsinger, GE Systems president and chief executive, in May.

Evendale-based GE Aviation has 1,400 employees at three local sites — two in Vandalia as well as Unison Industries in Beavercreek — and 9,000 employees in Ohio overall, Bolsinger said.
