Graeter’s scoops up local ice cream stores

Graeter’s Manufacturing Co. has agreed to buy four Graeter’s retail stores in Dayton and 11 in Columbus from Superior Tasting Products LLC,a franchisee, the companies said Friday, May 21.

Terms of the deal, expected to conclude in June, were not disclosed.

“This acquisition makes perfect strategic sense for Graeter’s,” Richard Graeter, president of Graeter’s, said in a statement. “Our corporate office in Cincinnati will now operate all of the Graeter’s stores in Ohio, meaning we’ll build an even better relationship with our customers in Dayton and Columbus.”

In the Dayton area, Superior Tasting Products has Graeter’s stores in Beavercreek, Centerville, Oakwood and Springboro.

Operated by Maury Levine and Clay Cookery, STP is Graeter’s largest franchisee, according to a news release.

Graeter’s has 14 retail stores in Cincinnati, according to its Web site.

In addition, Graeter’s has 14 franchise stores in Kentucky and two in Indiana, a news release states.
