The insurance industry is one of Ohio’s top 10 largest industries by employment, according to updated information from Ohio Insurance Institute.
There are 269 insurance companies based in Ohio, employing more than 96,000 people, according to the institute, a state industry trade association. The institute released new information Monday.
Estimates are more than 3,500 of those people work in the insurance business in the Dayton area and nearly 20 thousand work in the Cincinnati-Middletown metro area, also according to the institute. People working in insurance earn an average annual salary of approximately $63,000.
