BEAVERCREEK — The Dayton region could see a number of new information technology jobs in the coming years related a nearly $1 billion contract to provide the U.S. Air Force with IT products, services and solutions.

Segue Technologies Inc., a Virginia-based IT company with an office in Beavercreek, was named as one of 12 prime contractors under a seven-year Air Force Network Centric Solutions 2 Application Services contract with an estimated total value of $960 million.

The Small Business Set-Aside Program (SBSA) contract is focused on the development and maintenance of IT systems for the Air Force, said Matthew Kelley, Segue’s proposal manager. “We anticipate many of the systems that are hosted at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base would fall under this contract vehicle over the next seven years,” he said.

The Air Force has many IT systems that need to be modernized, said David Hart, Segue’s director of sales and marketing. The company could start hiring application software developers before the end of the year to help accomplish the work, he said.

The 12 prime contractors will compete for task orders issued under the contract. Each company will earn an estimated $15 million annually in new work for the contract’s duration, Kelley said.

The number of new jobs will depend on the success of local companies in bidding on those task orders.
