MVH to break ground Friday for cancer center

Staff Report

CENTERVILLE — Miami Valley Hospital South will break ground on Friday for a $20 million building that will house a comprehensive cancer center and physician offices at Clyo Road and Wilmington Pike.

Occupancy of the five-story, 87,000-square-foot facility is expected in January 2013.

The facility will be built, managed and owned by Miami Valley Hospital, and will be operated collaboratively by the hospital, Dayton Physicians Network and Radiation Oncology Services.

Dayton Physicians Network is a large multi-specialty practice that provides a full spectrum of cancer care for adult patients, while Radiation Oncology Services is a joint venture between Dayton Physicians and the hospital’s parent, Premier Health Partners.

Nearly 35 physicians will practice medical and radiation oncology at the new center, according to a news release.

The hospital said the new center will save patients considerable travel between several locations as they go about receiving cancer treatment.

The hospital has hired two Columbus-based firms, Andrews Architects Inc. and HPlex, to design and manage the project, respectively. Danis Building Construction Co. of Miami Twp. will serve as construction manager.
