Navistar, which has 850 Springfield employees, has replaced its chief executive, the company announced Monday morning.

Lewis Campbell, former chairman, president and CEO of Textron Inc., will replace Daniel Ustian, who is retiring “effective immediately, ” the company said in a statement.

Campbell’s title is executive chairman of the board of directors and interim CEO, the truck maker said.

“Lewis Campbell is a high-caliber executive who brings to Navistar deep and broad strategic, technical and operational skills and a proven track record of leadership with global industrial companies,” Michael Hammes, Navistar’s independent lead director, said in a statement.

Also, the company promoted Troy Clarke to president and chief operating officer.

In February, Navistar added 40 jobs to its local manufacturing facility, the first time it had done that since 1999. The Springfield facility produces five models of trucks and will add a sixth, union officials said earlier this year.
