New dialysis center opening in Trotwood

TROTWOOD —

Officials will conduct a groundbreaking ceremony today for a new dialysis center in Trotwood.

Fresenius Medical Care Trotwood, located at 4100 Salem Ave., will be 8,0000 square feet and serve patients throughout the Miami Valley. It is expected to open up 25-30 jobs.

The center will feature single-use dialyzers. Officials said some facilities may disinfect and reuse them, but Fresenius will not.

The center will also feature an emergency backup electrical generator to continue critical patient care in the event of a power outage, treatment stations that feature individual media systems, and wireless internet access throughout the facility for patients who bring computers or mobile devices.

The groundbreaking event today is set for 10 a.m. and will include Nephrologist Dr. Jeffrey Kaufhold.
