Progressive to build Dayton area service center

Progressive Insurance should start construction this week on a service center in Butler Twp., company officials said.

The service center is for insurance customers in accidents, or people involved in a vehicle accident with an at-fault Progressive customer to come for claim inspections, rentals, to arrange repairs and other services, said Jeff Sibel, a Progressive spokesman. The service center is not a body shop, but vehicles will be driven or hauled from the center to a body shop to have repairs done, Sibel said.

The cost of construction for the service center, to be located at 8080 N. Dixie Dr., was not disclosed. About 50 employees working in leased space in the Dayton area now on Poe Avenue will move to the center when it opens, which is planned to be Sept. 2013, Sibel said.

Progressive, which is based in Ohio in a Cleveland suburb, is opening the centralized service center to try to “make it as easy on the accident victim as possible,” he said.

“Over the next year…we’re opening up service centers all across the nation,” he said.

Currently, the insurance company has more than 50 service centers nationally, including locations in Columbus and Sharonville.
