WASHINGTON TWP., Montgomery County — A new business called Miami Valley Spice Traders has opened at 1513 Lyons Road at Yankee Street in the same retail shopping center that includes Drug Mart.

The business, owned by Brian and Heather Rayburn of Harrison Twp., sells a variety of spices, more than 20 varieties of both olive oil and Balsamic-style vinegars, teas and accessories.

A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Feb. 1, and the store will offer grand opening specials through Feb. 3, Brian Rayburn said.

Rayburn, a native of Union, and his wife, a Kettering native, both love to cook, and have visited several culinary stores in multiple states, Rayburn said.

“We brought all of the best items together under one roof,” Rayburn said. “It’s amazing how one ingredient can really make a meal shine.”

Miami Valley Spice Traders’ olive oils include Blood Orange; Mushroom Sage; and Sun-Dried Tomato, Parmesan and Garlic. Balsamic vinegars include a White Honey & Ginger, Blueberry and Fig. Spice blends — all of which are made in-house — include a Yankee Trace Steak Rub, with dill, coriander and pepper.

The spice shop’s hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call (937) 620-7396 or check out the Miami Valley Spice Traders Facebook page.
