Sneak peek Friday for new Dayton bakery

By Mark Fisher

DAYTON — The owners of Sweet Dot’s Bakery Cafe will offer a sneak peek to their new second location at 1101 W. Third St. in the Wright-Dunbar Business District from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

Following Friday’s sneak peek/grand opening event, the new bakery will be closed over the weekend, then open fully on Tuesday, according to Tawana Knight, co-owner of Sweet Dot’s. Starting Tuesday, the Dayton bakery will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday.

The original Sweet Dot’s Bakery Cafe at 101 E. Alex-Bell Road Suite 111 in the Cross Pointe shopping center in Centerville will remain open, Knight said. The Centerville location’s hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, closed Sunday through Tuesday.

Knight said she and co-owner Lolita Stevenson decided to open a second location in Dayton because of customer demand. The new Sweet Dot’s will offer sweet baked goods and lunch sandwiches for pickup and delivery, and will prepare box lunches for downtown Dayton businesses, Knight said. The new bakery also will offer catering for corporate meetings, holiday parties, weddings and other events.
