DAYTON — Daniel J. Curran, the University of Dayton’s president, is the new chairman of the Dayton Development Coalition, a public-private organization that advocates for the region and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and helps to lead regional economic development.

Curran moves up to chairman of the 29-member all-volunteer board of trustees after having served since 2003 on the board, including seven years on its executive committee, the coalition announced on Tuesday.

In almost a decade at UD, Curran has overseen increases in land acquisition, enrollment and research for the university.

As chairman of the coalition, he succeeds Bruce Langos, chief operations officer for Teradata Corp., the database analytics company based in Miami Twp., Montgomery County. Langos, who completed his term on the coalition’s board, continues to serve on the Third Frontier Commission, the state organization that provides grants to encourage growth of Ohio’s technology industries.

The nonprofit Dayton Development Coalition’s membership includes companies and local governments. Its annual budget in recent years has been about $3.5 million.
