Staff Report

WAPAKONETA — Koneta Inc. will receive a $125,000 state grant for buying machinery and equipment for a manufacturing expansion and renovation at its Wapakoneta plant, the Ohio Department of Development announced.

The grant will go toward the company’s $1.55 million project, which will help create 83 jobs and retain 139 at the plant, state officials said.

The privately owned company makes rubber and plastic products, using new and recycled materials.

The grant was among 14 approved by the State Controlling Board. The Department of Development administers the grants, which are projected to create 1,089 jobs across Ohio and help retain 3,651 current positions, state officials said.
