CareSource downsizes office tower planned for downtown

CareSource is scaling back the size of the office tower it wants to build downtown because the nonprofit is expanding its presence in another nearby building.

The tower the nonprofit health insurer plans to build will be six floors now instead of seven, reducing its capacity to 800 office spaces from 900, the group said.

CareSource has modified its design of the tower because it is increasing capacity at its Ballpark Village building, which is located across from Fifth Third Field.

CareSource, which is headquartered on North Main Street, expects to close on the purchase of the former WorkFlowOne building at 220 E. Monument Ave. on March 1.

The nonprofit has leased the five-story building since 2014 and named it Ballpark Village.

CareSource, which occupies floors one to four, this month will begin renovating the fifth floor with the hope of completing the work this summer. Deloitte Consulting previously occupied the top level, but decided to relocate to Tech Town.

The renovation and resdesign of the top floor will increase the Ballpark Villlage building’s capacity to 600 office spaces from 500, officials said.

“We expect to begin mobilizing the site in late March and anticipate completion in spring of 2019,” CareSource said in a statement.
