Central State plans to use the funds to aid in making bathroom repairs in residence halls and some renovations in Walker Gymnasium, according to the university.

“We are excited about receiving this grant. We appreciate the contributions of our Student Government Association, student body, faculty, staff, students, and alumni to have participated in this competition this year, said Stephanie Krah, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management.

Home Depot’s grant program supports sustainable campus beautification projects at HBCUs, which added up to $360,000 this year, according to CSU. Grants were awarded based on consumer voting and project proposal scores, which were determined by a panel of judges.
