SIDNEY— The Ohio Department of Education has again deemed two elementary schools in the Sidney City School District “Schools of Promise.”

Central and Longfellow Elementary schools were recently recognized as State Superintendent Schools of Promise for the 2008-09 school year by Superintendent of Public Instruction Debra Delisle.

Emerson Elementary School also received the honor of School of Promise this year for the first time.

The honor of School of Promise is based upon Central Elementary’s high test scores in mathematics and reading. Longfellow and Emerson Elementary also received the honor for their high scores in reading and mathematics. Longfellow, Emerson and Central Elementary schools are three of 134 schools throughout the state of Ohio who received this award.

It is the third consecutive year Central and Longfellow Elementary has received this honor; this is the first year Emerson Elementary has received the honor.
