“The Cody Rivers Show,” a high-energy, two-man sketch comedy act, is returning to the Beavercreek Community Theatre.

The duo — Mike Mathieu, a 1996 Beavercreek High graduate and Andrew Connor, a Columbus native — will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. March 14.

They will premiere “The Cody Rivers Show’s” newest piece, “Right Back Where We Finished.”

It’s described as “sprints between precocious youths, game theory, pioneer-era linguistics, ants and prairie dogs, the confessions of an unruly teen, eccentric old men, baby jockeys, ping pong and oh so much more.”

Mathieu, an English major, and Connor, a French and international studies major, met at Ohio Wesleyan University. They worked together on several productions and with the campus improv troupe, the Babbling Bishops.

After graduation, they moved to Bellingham, Wash., to work at the iDiOM Theater, where the director offered them a regular late-night slot.

In September 2004, they premiered “The Cody Rivers Show,” a two-man sketch comedy act that they describe as “kinetic and unpredictable” and “like running a marathon, doing algebra, and eating cake at the same time.”

The duo is based in Bellingham and regularly tours the U.S. and Canada.

Their 2010 tour includes stops in Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Chicago, Columbus, Toronto, Montreal, New York City, St. Louis, Denver, Washington, D.C. and Orlando.

Mathieu is the son of Wayne and Mary Mathieu of Beavercreek. He became the artistic director of iDiOM Theater in 2008 and recently debuted his one-man play, “Purple Heart.”

Connor runs Infinity Live Productions, a comedy and theatre production company.

He is also artistic director of Sketchfest Seattle and has toured around the world with his two solo shows, “Boom” and “Cyclosa Confusa.”

Tickets for the Beavercreek show are $10 and can be purchased by calling BCT at (937) 429-4737 and leaving a message or by e-mailing boxoffice@bctheatre.org. Tickets can also be purchased online, using a credit card, through the Beavercreek Community Theatre Web site at www.bctheatre.org .

Beavercreek Community Theatre is located in the former Lofino’s grocery store at 3868 Dayton-Xenia Road, which is now the Lofino Adult Enrichment and Cultural Arts Center, the home of both the theater and the Beavercreek Senior Center.
