DAYTON — The annual Dayton Public Schools Math Olympics competition was held Dec. 12 at Thurgood Marshall High School, with students in grades four through eight vying to win in a number of numerical and structural competitions.
Twenty-four schools competed in this year’s contests, and the following teams were victorious:
Fourth- through sixth-grade group
• First place: Belle Haven PK-8 School (Linda Jeter and Eloise Lewis, coaches).
• Second place: Kiser PK-8 School (Myra Baker and Laura Sadler-Harperink, coaches).
• Third place: River’s Edge Montessori (Stacie Hayne and Elizabeth Painter, coaches).
• Fourth place: Horace Mann PK-8 School (James Browning and Kiara Wilson, coaches).
• Fifth place: Charity Adams Earley Academy (Karla Goins and Karen Jeffries, coaches).
• Sixth place (tie): Edison PK-8 School (Alex Robertson and Anthony Taylor, coaches); and EJ Brown PK-8 School (Jodie Bowling and Connie Hendricksen, coaches).
Seventh- and eighth-grade group
• First place: Eastmont PK-8 School (Michael VanTine and Donna Bancal, coaches).
• Second place: Edison PK-8 School (Alex Robertson and Anthony Taylor, coaches).
• Third place (tie): Ruskin PK-8 School (Devon Berry and Christy Rhoades, coaches); Louise Troy PK-8 School (Shannon Chester and Shelly Fulcher, coaches).
• Fourth place: Stivers School for the Arts (Linda Hitchcock, coach).
• Fifth place: Cleveland PK-8 School (Linda Hamilton and Penny Spurlock, coaches).
• Sixth place: EJ Brown PK-8 School (Jodie Bowling and Connie Hendricksen, coaches).
Lang on fall dean’s list at DePaul U.
DAYTON — Zoe Lang of the Dayton area is on the fall quarter dean’s list of DePaul University in Chicago.
