DAYTON — The new Donate Life Mobile Education Vehicle will be unveiled during the kick-off of the Donate Life Tour.
The kick-off, which is centered around educating people about the importance of organ and tissue donation, starts at 10:30 a.m. today at the headquarters for Life Connection of Ohio, 40 Wyoming Street.
Life Connection of Ohio has teamed up with the Community Tissue Services, Lions Eye Bank of West Central Ohio to create an interactive organ, eye and tissue donation education experience on wheels, according to Cathi Arends, spokesperson for Life Connection of Ohio.
The vehicle will travel throughout 23 counties in northwest and west central Ohio.
There are over 3,000 Ohioans currently waiting for lifesaving transplants and 1 million life enhancing tissue transplants are performed each year, according to Life Connection officials.
Members of the media are asked to park in the Life Connection of Ohio parking lot during the kick-off ceremony. Those scheduled to attend today’s event, include Hank Dodson of Bellbrook, who is a heart recipient; Kara Blalock and her son Pierce of Centerville; Earl Dawson, a Sidney resident who is waiting for a kidney; and Rev. Daryl Ward of Omega Baptist Church in Dayton, who is also a donation advocate.
