DAYTON —The St. Anne’s Hill Historic Society will celebrate its 35th anniversary with a weekend of festivities Sept. 18-19, when past and present residents and elected officials will commemorate the evolution of the neighborhood since it became a registered historic district in 1974.
On Friday, Sept. 18, a private social event will feature hors d’oeuvres and music, much like the monthly social events the society holds for members.
The Gala Event will be Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Bossler Mansion, a landmark structure built in 1869 and considered Dayton’s best example of Second Empire architecture.
Along with dining and dancing, guests can view a collection of historic photographs and mementos documenting the history of the community along with getting a unique view of downtown Dayton from the upper floors of the mansion.
Finally, the neighborhood will display the new neighborhood banners that will adorn East Fifth Street to identify and promote the historic district.
