UNION — City Manager John Applegate informed City Council that the new water tower being built off Old Springfield Road east of the Stillwater River will soon be filled with water and be operational.

“Our hope is in the next few weeks to have it on-line,” Applegate told Council members Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Applegate said the Ohio EPA inspected the tower Oct. 14.

Presiding Mayor Michael O’Callaghan complemented the Union Fire Department for the job it did at its annual open house, Sunday, Oct. 11. “Every time I go to the fire house (located on Martindale Road) I know that we are in good hands whenever there is a fire,” O’Callaghan said.

Union Mayor Patricia Goudy missed the Oct. 13 meeting due to an illness.

The next meeting for Union City Council is Monday, Nov. 9, in Council Chambers at the Union Municipal Building, 118 N. Main St.
