“On Nov. 4, 2009, the Northmont Education Foundation will hold its annual breakfast to honor the businesses and individuals who made significant contributions to the organization over the past year,” said NEF Trustee Nancy Henne in an e-mail.
“Thousands of dollars have been raised through direct donations and contributions to the NEF’s annual auction,” she said.
Henne said the NEF was able to award nearly $30,000 in grants to Northmont teachers and schools for projects that otherwise would have gone unfunded.
“The grants support a variety of programs including technology in the classroom, cultural initiatives, tolerance for diversity, and enhanced academic efforts,” she said.
Henne said $50,000 in scholarships also were awarded to more than 40 students from Northmont’s 2009 graduating class — and this was in addition to the grants awarded by the NEF.
For the first time, the breakfast will be held at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center’s new adult education facility, across the street from the main MVCTC campus, 6800 Hoke Road, Clayton. The facility’s ribbon-cutting ceremony was Oct. 13.
Henne said breakfast will be provided by the Northmont Food Service, followed by presentations by grant recipients.
The mission of the Northmont Education Foundation is to provide funds to enhance the education of the students in the Northmont Community through grants and scholarships.
The purpose of the foundation is to promote the programs and activities of Northmont Schools through donations and gifts in support of the following categories: academic excellence, fine and performing arts and the general category, which promotes enrichment programs, activities and athletic interests.

Memberships are tax deductible and all members are listed in the Foundation Annual Report.
“The event serves as an opportunity to both thank contributors and exhibit the programs they have helped to fund,” Henne said.
