Alter High School’s annual end-of-summer celebration, AlterFest, will be held Saturday through Monday, Sept. 4-6, at the high school, 940 E. David Road.
The weekend kicks off with a 5K run and kids fun run at 8 a.m. Saturday at Alter. The festival itself begins at noon Saturday with a color guard ceremony and proclamation. Festival hours are noon to midnight Saturday and Sunday, and noon to 8 p.m. Monday, with a variety of attractions each day.
• Younger children can enjoy traditional games such as a duck pond and cornhole toss, and there will be carnival rides for the older ages.
• Adults can play casino-style games such as Texas Hold ’Em and blackjack.
• Ten different bands will take the stage over three days — The Johnsons, The Fries, This Side Up, Ivory Doghouse, Spungewurthy, Bonne-ville, Last Call, Shadow- life, Vanity Theft and Velvet Crush.
• Food choices will include the festival’s famous chicken dinner, LaRosa’s Pizza, cabbage rolls and all types of festival food.
• A mini sports bar with beer and big-screen TVs will be on hand for those who don’t want to miss the big games.
• A $10,000 grand prize drawing will be held at 7 p.m. Monday.
Premium parking will be available in front of Alter for $5. Free handicapped parking will be available on festival grounds and at St. Charles between the PAC and the church.
