KETTERING — The city’s annual Cops and Kids Camp is going on this week, according to Kettering Police Officer Michael Burke.

The camp, which is hosted by the Kettering Police Department, Kettering’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department and Kettering Partners for Healthy Youth, will take place between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 1; Thursday, July 2, and Friday, July 3, at Indian Riffle Park, 2801 E. Stroop Road.

The camp’s youth counselors will be “youth who are performing community service projects as directed by the juvenile court,” Burke said via a press release. The youth counselors had been charged with “very minor offenses.”

The release also said, “as part of a community oriented policing effort, the police department will be overseeing the camp and acting as mentors to the counselors and campers.”

For more information, contact Officer Burke at (937) 296-2458.
