CLEARCREEK TWP., Warren County – Service began today, June 29, on the stretch of a 42-inch, 1,679-mile underground pipeline ending at the Lebanon Hub in Clearcreek Twp.

Natural gas flowed today through the stretch of the Rockies Express Pipeline from Audrain County, Mo., to the hub in Warren County. At the hub, the line interconnects with lines from 12 other gas providers.

Construction is already underway on the remaining 639 miles to Clarington, Ohio. This final section is expected to be in service by Nov. 1, 2009.

“We are delighted that the majority of REX-East is now in service, providing our shippers access to new markets,” Steve Kean, president of Kinder Morgan’s Natural Gas Pipelines group, said in a press release. “We now look forward to bringing the final leg of the REX project to Clarington, Ohio, into service by Nov. 1.”

The pipeline is a joint venture of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, Sempra Pipelines and Storage, a unit of Sempra Energy, and ConocoPhillips. It is one of the largest natural gas pipelines to be constructed in North America.

Wouldn't it be great if people could grow up and stop using childish insults like "Ossama"? We should live so long...

This pipeline has ruined so much beautiful land and the owners received almost nothing in return.

I've had natural gas flowing for a while. Thanks Taco Bell!

Hopefully this will help keep natural gas prices reasonable. But that will only happen if Ossama doesn't push for NG being used to power electric plants and cars more!
