Contest benefits playground in honor of Fairfield’s ‘Superbubz’

The Fairfield City School District is participating in a No Shave November contest. The money raised will go in a fund to build a playground in honor of Walter “Superbubz” Herbert.

Walter — the Fairfield Central Elementary first-grader who went by the nickname of “Superbubz” — and for many embodied a superhero’s courage — died Oct. 6 at his home from cancer.

There are 16 people vying for the title of best beard. All coins will count as positive votes all paper money will count as negative votes.

Contestants are: Michael Chacksfield, Nick Dorsey, Kurt Etter, Nick Flannery, Andrew Guenther, Rodney Hubbard, Mike Jones, Matthew Klaber, Jason Krause, Mike Massie, Ryan McCarthy, Mike Napier, Elias Perdue, Matt Reisner, Mark Rice and Ben Zoeller.
