OSP: Michigan woman killed in I-75 North crash in Shelby County, south of Botkins

UPDATE @ 7:30 p.m.: The woman killed on I-75 North, south of Botkins in Shelby County, is a 44-year-old Roseville, Michigan, resident in what the state patrol now is saying was a three-vehicle traffic accident.

Stacie Jones was killed when she was ejected from the front seat of a southbound car that crossed the grassy median and hit the tandem wheels of a northbound commercial truck.

Clayton Reed, also 44 and from Roseville, was driving the car and apparently lost control of it, according to the state patrol post at Piqua. Reed suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital.

Travis Light, 26, of Cincinnati, was driving the Mack truck hauling a box trailer that collided with the Reed vehicle. Light was not injured.

A second commercial vehicle struck debris from the collision as its driver attempted to avoid the two vehicles in the accident.

The northbound lanes were closed approximately two hours for the investigation and cleanup. All lanes have now reopened, according to the patrol. The crash remains under investigation.

UPDATE @ 4:27 p.m.:

A female passenger is the fatality in the two-vehicle accident on I-75 North in Shelby County between Botkins and Anna. She was ejected when the car crossed the median, struck the tandem wheels of a northbound semitrailer and then was sent spinning, said Lt. Joseph Gebhart, Piqua Post commander, Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred right about 2 p.m.

The driver of the car has been taken to a hospital, where emergency medical workers report that person has been stabilized, Gebhart said. The driver of the semitrailer was not injured.

Both victims in the car are from Michigan.

Gebhart said the investigation is in its early stage, but neither alcohol nor speed appear to be factors in the accident. Road conditions don't appear to be a factor either, he said.

The right lane of the interstate will remain closed until further notice because of the damage to the semitrailer. The left lane has reopened to traffic.
