2 charged with assault after fight with two-by-fours

Two people were charged with assault following a fight with two-by-four pieces of wood Monday night, Middletown police said.

Police were called to the 2300 block of Sutphin Street on a report that someone had a gun. But when they arrived, they were told that Tyler Powell, 23, of Hamilton, and Ryan Powell, 25, of Middletown, had assaulted two people in the residence.

One man had a “visible gash” on his head and was transported to Atrium Medical Center, according to the police report.

During the disturbance, Tyler Powell grabbed a two-by-four and hit a female resident, then struck the man who was fighting his brother, the report said.

Ryan Powell will be charged with simple assault and Tyler Powell will be charged with two counts of felonious assault, police said.
