Clark County deputies stop man on I-70 accused of trafficking meth

A Missouri man has been accused of attempting to traffic meth through Clark County using Interstate 70.

Ryan Burke, 36, has been charged with possession of drugs, trafficking in drugs, drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence. He is accused of having in his possession 11 grams of meth, four glass pipes and digital scales.

Burke pleaded not guilty to the charges in Clark County Municipal Court on Thursday. His bond was set at $50,000.

Clark County Sheriff’s deputies pulled Burke over on July 12 on I-70 because he was acting suspicious, a court affidavit says, including changing lanes without signaling and without reason.

“As I caught up to the vehicle, the driver then pulled back into the center lane without signaling the change and sped up,” Deputy Christopher Doolin says in the court reports.” As I caught up to the vehicle, I observed him watching me in his side view mirror and he drove out of this marked lanes two tire widths two different times.”

Doolin said he also saw Burke moving around and reach down beside him. At that time he activated his emergency lights to pull him over, the affidavit says.

Deputies alleged when they spoke with Burke he was sweating and didn’t give straight answers. Doolin said he asked to search him and Burke gave permission.

“While patting him down Deputy Waymire located a metal tin with suspected crystal meth,” Doolin says in the affidavit.

The affidavit says Burke first said he doesn’t do meth but then told deputies that he allegedly did some a couple of days earlier.
