Fake DP&L phone scam reported

Numerous Celina residents have reported receiving phone calls from a woman claiming to be from Dayton Power and Light. According to the Celina Police Department, the woman tells customers that they are overpaying and can get cheaper rates from her. The scammer then asks for personal and financial information including social security numbers.

If you receive this type of call Celina Police advise to never give out any of your personal information especially your social security number. The Celina power transmission lines cannot be used by any other entity other than Celina Utilities. In other words, if you are on Celina Utilities for electricity no one else is able to sell you electricity.
