Child rape suspect arrested at Dayton apartment

A child rape suspect who was indicted last month by a Montgomery County grand jury has been arrested.

The charges against Robert Taylor, 53, include raping a child under the age of 13 over the course of several years and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, according to a release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Dayton police and the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team tracked the defendant down to an apartment on North Findley Street, according to the release. Authorities said the defendant had been avoiding contact with police since his indictment last month.

Taylor was arrested this morning and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. He is set to appear for an arraignment on Thursday.

EARLIER (Oct. 19)

A Montgomery County grand jury indicted a man in connection to the rape of a child.

Robert Taylor, 53, is accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile known to him in Dayton in 2013.

He was indicted on a charge of rape of a child under the age of 13 and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.

He is not in custody and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. He is to be arraigned Nov. 3 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
