UPDATE @ 11:45 p.m. (Feb. 17):

Prosecutors filed formal charges Wednesday against a Kettering man accused of kidnapping and raping a woman from north central Ohio.

Officers were back at Craig T. Hamrock’s house in Kettering on Wednesday, and they found clues to back up the woman’s story that she had been held captive for three days in the 4000 block of Weybright Court.

“She was assaulted and there was evidence of assault,” said Officer John Jung with the Kettering Police Department. “So that stuff that will kind of tell a story. I think the truth will come out in this case, and the evidence is going to speak for itself.”

The 28-year-old woman reported to police she was raped in Kettering after being kidnapped from near her home on Possum Run Road in Mansfield.

The woman told police she was kidnapped Friday and that Hamrock, described as her ex-boyfriend, brought her back home on Monday.

A release from Richland County Sheriff J. Steve Sheldon says the woman was physically and sexually assaulted in Kettering. Sheldon said evidence of the victim’s allegations was recovered from Hamrock’s home.

Kettering police on Monday evening were contacted by Richland County deputies of a possible sexual assault. By 2 a.m. Tuesday, Hamrock, 34, was booked into Kettering City Jail. Jung said Hamrock has been formally charged with felony charges, including rape, abduction and felonious assault.

Jung said additional drug charges also are pending after 20 pounds of marijuana were seized from the home.

Jung said while officers were at Hamrock’s home executing search warrants, the man arrived back home. He was taken into custody without incident.
