Man sends multiple text messages to 9-1-1, cops seize his cell phone

DAYTON — A 40-year-old city man was issued a citation, and had his cell phone seized by police after he sent multiple text messages to 9-1-1 on Sunday, according to a Dayton police incident report.

Officers took Adam C. Bender’s cell phone after he sent 11 text messages to 9-1-1 on Sunday, according to the police incident report.

Dayton police were dispatched to the 500 block of South Paul Laurence Dunbar Street around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

“I warned Bender at 1930 to stop and issued a warning tag for 9-1-1 misuse,” Dayton Police Officer Christopher Smith. “After I left, Bender sent three more text to 911.”

Two hours later, officers returned to Bender’s home, issued a citation and took his cell phone, according to the incident report.
