Update@2:35 a.m.:

The crash occurred about 12:30 a.m. as the vehicle was heading north on Haber Street, and the driver lost control, said Sgt. Matt Robinson of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Dayton post.

The car then went off the right side of road, came back and went left of center and to the left side of the roadway, striking a light post, Robinson said.

The driver suffered serious injuries, and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by a medical helicopter, the trooper said, noting that the motorist appeared to be in his 30s.

It’s unclear at this time if speed or alcohol caused the crash, Robinson said, declining to release the driver’s identity.

No power outages were reported after the pole was struck, he said.

The crash remains under investigation.
