Miami Twp. switching to police cameras used by Beavercreek, Kettering

The Miami Twp. Police Department will be getting new cruiser cameras.

The department plans replace a six-year-old system with one that is “a better fit,” township records show. The new system will be one employed by Beavercreek, Kettering, Piqua and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base police.

Under the plan, Miami Twp. will be able to outfit 12 marked cruisers and a jail transport van for $89,945, records show. Executing the deal this year will save the township $4,230, but the project will not be invoiced until next year.

The police department’s current system has issues with hardware that are not covered under warranty, according to a memo from Capt. Russell Johnson.
