Officers called 30 times to Dayton house for drugs, violence

Police label it a nuisance, order residents to leave.

Dayton Police officers ordered tenants to move out of a home after being called to the house more than 30 times in the past year.

Officers responded to three drug overdoses for three different people at the home in the 8oo block of Wilmore Avenue, according to a police report.

Ronald Wilson, who owns the house, said he has had issues with people who he has rented his home to in the past, but his job makes it hard for him to fix the problem.

“I am a truck driver, so there is not much I can do when I am 1,000 miles away,” Wilson said. “I evicted one person in the past, but I did not think I would have issues with other people.”

Police have been called to the home for multiple domestic violence incidents. In 2014, someone fired shots into the residence over a drug deal, according to a police report.

Wilson said he wanted to get the current residents out of the house, but said he could not afford to go through the legal process.

“According to the law, I had to go through the eviction status, and at the particular time I did not have the money to get them out,” Wilson said.

Police instead declared the home to be nuisance abated, which means it is a threat to the community.

Officers gave the tenants two weeks to move out unless they filed an appeal. They began to move out of the home Friday morning.

Wilson said he plans to clean up the property and only rent it out to family.
